Qualifications

Description

The lifeguard is directly responsible for ensuring the safety of all persons on the deck and in the water.
The ability to focus and avoid distractions is essential.
The lifeguard is charged with enforcing all pool and safety regulations.
Lifeguard duties include the maintenance and cleaning of the facility.
Under the direction of the on-duty manager, rendering first aid, and summoning EMS when appropriate.
Senior lifeguards, when designated, may be responsible for overseeing the direction of other lifeguards at times. Such designation by the board is generally given only because of past lifeguard or pool experience and the need to relieve managers of oversight responsibility.
When off the stand, cleaning duties should be addressed, such as: bathrooms, trash, sweeping the deck, etc.

Pool Manager

Qualifications

Previous lifeguard experience preferred.
Must have current lifeguard certification.
Ability to manage 5-15 people.
Outstanding customer service and problem-solving skills.
Ability to delegate tasks.
Must be technology savvy.

Description

In charge of day to day operations of the swimming pool and staff.
Responsible for the daily upkeep and maintenance of the pool.
Responsible for training all new and returning lifeguards.
Work with board members on policy and employment issues.
Work collaboratively with the snack bar and provide support during busy times – that could mean being in the snack bar or assigning a guard to temporarily help.
Train eligible staff on how to operate pump and chemicals.
Train staff on daily pool cleaning and maintenance requirements.
Fill in for lifeguards when needed for staffing or pool capacity.

Swim Team Coach

Qualifications

Must have a competitive swimming background.
Must have knowledge of the sport, a mastery of swimming skills, and familiarity with swim meet operation.
Must have an understanding of how children learn and understand how to communicate with them.
Must demonstrate good sportsmanship and responsibility.
Must have effective communication skills when dealing with other coaches, assistant coaches, and swim team managers.
Must be able to attend both morning and afternoon practices as well as all swim meets.
Must maintain lifeguard certifications in Lifeguarding, CPR with AED, and First Aid.

Description

We are seeking individuals interested in serving as swim coaches for this season: a head coach and at least one assistant coach.
Applicants need to have an understanding of the JRAC rules and regulations, and be knowledgeable about the sport of competitive swimming.
Job requirements include helping to lead practices, ensuring the safety of swimmers at practices, directing swimmers in knowledge of the sport including strokes.
Applicant will be on deck before swimmers begin practice to greet parents and swimmers, help set up and run practices and meets.
Applicant will need to provide corrective feedback that will enhance swimmers’ techniques.
Must be efficient at maintaining structure and swimmer participation.
Must attend all swim meets.

Snack Bar Attendant

Qualifications

Snack bar, food service, or customer service experience.
Good interpersonal skills.
Ability to prioritize and multitask.
Ability to follow instructions.
Fourteen years of age or older.
Outstanding customer service skills.

Description

Directly responsible for food preparation and the serving of food.
Charged with maintaining the cleanliness of the snack bar in accordance with Virginia Department of Health regulations.
Snack bar duties include all tasks related to food preparation and serving.
In charge of operating the cash register, making change, voids, returns, and exchanges.
Responsible for communicating inventory and stock needs with the snack bar manager.
